78% Optimus Prime

So apparently I am 78% Optimus Prime, at least according to this test. I thought it was pretty cool, so I decided to post it for you all.

I AM
78%
OPTIMUS PRIME

Optimus Prime

Optimus Prime is the heroic leader of the Autobots. He is the personification of courage, strength, and integrity. His personal motto is that “Freedom is the right of all sentient beings.”

Like Optimus Prime, you are good by nature. But beware because mischievous thoughts sometimes tempt you. You are inspiring, confident, and a natural leader. The Autobots have chosen well. In addition, you use technology when you need to, but you do not embrace the latest trends.

Last week or so

So I have been very busy, even on Fall break! While on Spring break I got to read a bit of a book I have been wanting to read for a while, Crusader, Ronald Reagan and the Fall of Communism. I also got to hang out with my Grandparents some. And on the last day of the Spring break, I had the opportunity to hand out in the Commons with some of the new Undergrads! I enjoyed my break greatly.

Now though, I must as everyone else get back into the swing of things. I have Ethics and Research Methods this sessions. With starting classes back up and doing other things, I have been re-asking myself the question of "What are my priorities?" I have so many things that I would love to do, yet more and more I realize that my time to a degree is finite and I must be intentional in choosing to pursue what is important while leaving aside things that are not.

Mute Math

For those of you who have never seen Mute Math's Typical music video...here it is! It is amazing good and creative! It is a backwards video and an incredible one at that! As far as I can tell, there is only one cut in the entire video, so it was two very long and complicated scenes while trying to mouth the sound backwards!

Two competing views

Over the past week in my Communication Ethics class (which I highly recommend as a class), we briefly reviewed a segment of the program, The Question of God; Sigmund Freud & C.S. Lewis with Dr. Armand Nicholi. I have quite enjoyed it because it has been an opportunity to address foundational issues, something I believe C.S. Lewis had a gift for articulating. The program basically contrasts God in light of the works of C.S. Lewis and the humanist Sigmund Freud. One such comparison is this:

It is after you have realized that there is a real Moral Law, and a Power behind the law, and that you have broken that law and put yourself wrong with that Power—it is after all this, and not a moment sooner, that Christianity begins to talk.” – Lewis

It would be an undoubted advantage if we were to leave God out altogether and honestly admit the purely human origins of the regulations and precepts of civilization.” – Freud

It is an amazing comparison. Of course in my mind one view stands heads and shoulders above the rest, yet this program in ways crystallizes the differences between a believe in God and disbelief in God.

End of Session A

It is amazing how this session is almost over! In a little over a week, everyone will be handing in their last assignments and will be going on what must be the Undergrad's first Fall Break. For the past session, I have been taking all communication classes. Though I have throughly enjoyed taking these classes, in some ways I am looking forward to getting back to the classes within my OLAM major. I believe that I have become somewhat attached to these classes over my time here at Regent. I also look forward to those classes because they may be filled with other OLAM students who I haven't seen in a while. Though I plan to thoroughly enjoy Fall Break, I am looking forward to session B!

Soul Central Bus!!!

So my Church's (Wave Church) young adult movement, Soul Central, is going to run a bus out to Regent to help bring people from Regent to its Wednesday night meetings! For those of you who have not been to Soul Central, it is amazing and I highly recommend checking it, and tonight is a great opportunity to do it! Don't be concerned about getting directions, just jump on the bus and enjoy the ride! Be over at the Communication building at 7:15. The bus will take you to Wave Church and bring you back to the Com Building at 10:00pm.
